Santa Monica Surf School was established in 2006. We specialize in private surf lessons, team building activities, and corporate wellness events. Our instructors have experience in teaching people of all ages and abilities. Since 2006, we’ve been helping people achieve their surfing goals. Our mission is to educate, inspire, and empower people to a greater sense of awareness and knowledge through surfing.

Nick Rea

Founder/Head Instructor

Nick was born and raised in Santa Monica and has always considered the beach to be his backyard. At the young age of nine, he joined the Los Angeles Junior Lifeguard Program and soon discovered his calling for surfing. Since sparking that innate passion, he’s taught all over the world from Bali to Costa Rica to Hawaii. Nick has credentials from the International Surfing Association and is a certified Open Water Lifeguard currently in Los Angeles, Ca.

Esteban Lopez

Instructor

Esteban is a member of the International Surfing Association and a certified lifeguard. Esteban is an outgoing, hardworking and very kind person who enjoys nature and it is passionate about teaching people how to surf. He is a native of Nosara, Costa Rica. In 2002, he fell in love with the sport of surfing. Over the years, Esteban has worked for several surf schools in Playa Guiones, Costa Rica.

Aidan Ostrogovich

Instructor

Aidan is a Santa Monica native and has surfed all his life. With over 25 years of experience in the water, Aidan has an amazing way of teaching the art of surfing. He has taught thousands in his career and truly enjoys teaching this amazing sport.

Esteban Lopez

Instructor

Esteban is a member of the Internatinal surfing association and a certified lifeguard. Esteban is an outgoing, hardworking and very kind person who enjoys nature and it is passionate about teaching people how to surf. He is a native of Nosara, Costa Rica. In 2002 he fell in love with the sport of surfing. Over the years, Esteban worked for severals surf schools in Playa Guiones, Costa Rica, which helped to shape his career as being a member of the International Surfing Association (ISA), as a certified, trained professional surf coach.

He has taught thousands in his career and truly enjoys teaching this amazing sport. He is certified by the Red Cross and holds a level 2 Surf Coaching degree from the National Surfing Association.
